My Christopher: It took them approximately 8 days to diagnose him with a bacterial infection in his lungs (pneumonia), but it did not pertain to Covid. The antibiotics weren't started on Wednesday 10/6 but started the following day Thursday 10/7 of the test results.

Chris was sick. It started September 17th and he tested positive for Covid-19 on September 20th 2021. He stayed home taking vitamins until his oxygen dropped to 88 %. I took him to SLSS hospital where they admitted him 9 days after diagnosing Covid-19. The nurse told me I wasn't able to stay with him because of CDC protocol. He was inpatient at SLSS Hospital September 28, 2021, transferred to ICU on September 29th, 2021 at 9am when his oxygen dropped to 80%.

I wasn't contacted by the hospital about his transfer to the ICU. I wasn't able to reach him all day until 7pm. The hospital separated me from him. I wasn't able to speak with a "doctor" until Friday.

Dr. John finally called me at 4:30pm. Remdesivir is to be used within 5 days of testing positive for Covid-19. The hospital put him on Remdesivir, and after 4 dosages his liver/kidneys were affected. They held back (Remdesivir) on Sunday, October 3rd.

Sunday I requested the doctor to stop the Remdesivir, then Dr. Rebecca Scerpella refused to stop it. Friday, October 1st, 2021 the hospital stopped feeding Chris no food, no water, and no tpn (IV bagged food)! He was given only 3 bottles of Ensure per day, because they said his oxygen would drop to remove the oxygen mask to be able to eat.

After being in the hospital for 3 days and me calling to try to speak to a doctor, finally at 4:30 p.m., on Friday I spoke to Dr. John, one of the doctors there that stated that Chris was in the ICU due to low oxygen.

I spoke to Chris on the phone. He needed his glasses. Friday I went to the hospital. I dropped off his glasses and three bottles of Gatorade for him, because he was not getting any food! At the front doors there was security and they would not let me in to see my husband or talk to the doctor, so they took his bag with his name and told me that they would make sure he gets the items in the bag.

On Sunday a friend shared information about the Remdesivir treatment and what it does to your organs and body. Sunday 10/3/2021 on the phone, RN Sue, stated they were not giving Chris Ensure anymore! She said his mask couldn't be removed. The Ensure was the only nutrition he was getting and only three bottles per day!!

Sunday I went to the hospital and was able to get past security this time. I got to the ICU unit doors; RN Sue came out and told me that the doctor can't talk to me. I requested to speak to the doctor for a care plan for my husband. I said I’ll wait on the doctor and stated I wanted to see my husband. Sue, the nurse, told me to go home and that the doctor would call me.

I told Sue, the nurse, that I wanted my husband to get the Ensure and to tell the Dr to not give Chris Remdesivir anymore, and that I found out it causes liver and kidneys failure.

I wasn't able to see my husband or even talk to him on the phone! We only communicated with text messages. Chris's WBC (White blood count) was going up daily, possible infection. Monday Christopher’s liver had improved because the doctor stopped Remdesivir on Sunday.

I contacted the social worker at the hospital to get Power of Attorney for Chris's Health on Monday, October 4th. The doctor was drugging (with Propofol) Chris, so he wasn't able to think clearly and wasn't able to make decisions for himself.

Dr. Rebecca wouldn't listen to me either and stop Remdesivir treatments. Blood work drawn daily showed increased WBC, yet no antibiotics given even after I've requested them. On Tuesday 10/5, I requested to give Chris antibiotics again, because of his increased WBC. He clearly had an infection and they needed to take him off Remdesivir. Christopher had a bacterial infection in both lungs and needed antibiotics now!

I finally got POA rights on Tuesday 10/5. I told Dr. Rebecca to stop Remdesivir, yet still she refused. I requested Chris to be transferred to SLMC; Dr. Rebecca refused my request to transfer him.

Wednesday 10/6 he was put on a ventilator. They lied to me and said the ventilator was to help the respiratory therapist remove and suction the mucus out his lungs.

He had a secondary infection (bacterial) on 10/4/2021. I requested a culture to prove he had secondary infection and requested antibiotics.

Finally Dr Syed did a culture test on Wednesday 10/6 at 4:07 am, Chris had bacterial infection—0.37 results, Christopher's WBC 34.0, and his bloodwork - BUN was 58.

A good White Blood Cell level is usually between 4 and 10.5. He never had any compression stockings or a compression machine on his legs to help keep his blood circulating because of blood clots.

I requested daily for Dr Rebecca to give my husband an alternative medication, Ivermectin, antibiotics, hydroxychloroquine, monoclonal antibodies and to stop Remdesivir treatments. My requests were denied every time,

Dr Rebecca kept giving him Remdesivir after I became POA on Tuesday 10/5/2021 and I requested to stop Remdesivir, and to start antibiotics. I spoke to her and I requested to have a meeting with her for a plan of care for Chris being POA. Dr Rebecca refused.

On Wednesday 10/6/2021 at 4:30pm, I spoke to Dr. Syed. He told me Chris had a lung infection. He said that he ordered antibiotics and would start them. He said they would keep Chris at the hospital (SLSS) 3 days to clear up the infection. Dr. Syed stated not to transfer Chris. He said, "Chris was critical sepsis and will put him on antibiotics for the bacterial infection", so I agreed with him not to transfer Chris.

Antibiotics were never started on Wednesday. Thursday 10/7/2021 antibiotics were started at about 1:30pm, not as I was told would be on Wednesday at 4:30pm when I spoke to Dr Syed.

Thursday at 10:30am Dr. Rebecca, caring for my husband, called me about antibiotics and to discuss transferring him. I told her NOT to transfer him; that Dr. Syed told me to keep him there at SLSS and continue antibiotics for 2 to 3 days, and that Chris was critical.

Thursday 10/7 /2021 they gave him more Remdesivir. Dr Rebecca stated she was starting him on the antibiotics Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm. I asked her why they didn't start the antibiotics yesterday, on Wednesday, when the test results came back, stating that he did have a bacterial infection. Dr. Rebecca stated she would start him on antibiotics today and never answered my question. She said Chris also needed a Flolan machine plus an Ecmo machine.

The Flolan machine at her hospital was broken; a part was missing at her hospital.

She waited a day AFTER testing for an infection before giving Chris antibiotics 10/7/2021 at 1:30pm. Then, against Dr. Syed and my verbal request to keep Chris at SLSS, Dr. Rebecca transferred him anyway to SLMC!

My husband's power of medical attorney papers meant nothing! Dr. Rebecca would not listen to any of my requests or my directions for my husband’s health. Against my consent, Chris was transferred Thursday evening at around 9:20pm. I did not receive a phone call from the doctor or nursing staff about the transfer. Nor did anybody call me when they sent him to St. Luke’s Medical Center for a Flolan/Ecmo machine.

Transfer from St. Luke’s South Shore to St. Luke’s Medical Center was around 9:20pm 10/7/2021. At 11:18pm I received a phone call from Dr. Lopez. SLMC didn't have an Ecmo machine. One wasn’t available at his hospital or in the state of Wisconsin, so they put Chris on a Flolan machine.

Dr Lopez said my husband was sepsis (infection) and was very sick He didn't think Chris would live through the night, and to bring family. My children and I went to the hospital.

Chris was in kidney failure. His vitals were not stable and at 3:30am 10/8/2021 the hospital sent us home. We couldn't stay with my Chris. Nurse said it was CDC protocol. I wasn't able to stay with my husband that was sick and dying?? She made us leave.

Friday 10/8/2021 at 10:30am, Dr. Ogellio, who was on duty, called me stated my husband was septic and the bacterial infection was bad. The Dr. needed to put him on stronger antibiotics and put him on kidney dialysis because his kidneys failed. He stated I needed to have all family members up to hospital - that Chris wouldn't make it much longer.
